Men's Soccer: Warriors Trim Elms on Freshman Agyemang's Late Goal for Tenth Victory

CHICOPEE, Mass. – Freshman Patrick Agyemang (East Hartford) scored his team-leading seventh goal of the season with eight minutes left to lift the Eastern Connecticut State sUniversity men's soccer team to a 1-0 non-conference win over Elms College Sunday night at Leary Field.

Eastern (10-2) outshot Elms (4-8) by a 16-2 margin in the second half but could not break a scoreless tie until Agyemang kanocked in a header off a cross from junior Justin Jensen (Wethersfield) in the 83rd minute. It was Agyemang's third game-winning goal.

Senior Ryan Murphy (Cromwell) and sophomore Kyle Boutot (Tolland) combined for seven saves.

Eastern outshot Elms, 25-11 with a 15-2 advantage in corner kicks.

The shutout is the fifth this year and second in as many days for Eastern, ranked tenth in New England. The Warriors improved to 6-1 on the road.

Eastern hosts UMass Boston Wednesday at 4 p.m. at Thomas Nevers Field.
