Two-year team captain Emmanuel Caicedo of Manchester was voted to the 12-person College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Division III Academic All-District 2 team and was also named to compete in the 46-player New England Intercollegiate Soccer League (NEISL) Division III Senior All-Star Game, which was scheduled to be played Nov. 27 at Gordon Field on the campus of Brandeis University.
The recent awards followed his selection as the Little East Conference Defensive Player-of-the-Year and as a repeater to the All-LEC first team.
Caicedo is a Health Sciences major concentrating in Pre-Nursing with an overall 3.81 grade-point average. He becomes the program’s fifth CoSIDA All-District selection, following, most recently, current assistant coach Maxim Fantl (2009). A five-time Dean’s List achiever, Caicedo serves as Student Athletic Advisory Committee (SAAC) co-President, participated in the NCAA Career in Sports Forum and is a member of the Chi alpha Sigma National College Athlete Honor Society. He serves as a research assistant at Hartford Hospital and was a physical therapy intern last summer and has volunteered with the Windham Special Olympics and Covenant Soup Kitchen in Willimantic and as a coordinator of the Be The Match bone marrow drive.
Caicedo started every match in which he appeared for the third time in four seasons, leading all field players in minutes (1,524) and average minutes (89.6), missing only 45 minutes all season. Offensively, he led the Warriors with five goals and was second with ten points.
