Warriors Can't Solve Burdelski's Offerings, Drop First Game in Florida, 6-0

KISSIMMEE, Fla. – Krystyna Burdelski handcuffed the Eastern Connecticut State University softball team on two singles to lift Westminster College to a 6-0 victory Monday afternoon at the Fortune Road Athletic Complex.

Coming off a 4-3 win over Montclair State University earlier in the day, Eastern (3-1) managed only a single through the left side by sophomore Alexis Tyrrell (Torrington)  leading off the fourth and a one-out single by freshman Julia SanGiovanni (East Haven) in the seventh. Burdelski (1-1) fanned only two but only walked one and hit one and allowed only three outfield outs. She was aided by two double plays.

Eastern managed to put only one baserunner into scoring position when Tyrrell singled leading off the fourth, went to second on a wild pitch and to third on a ground ball to the right side. Burdelski left her stranded with a comebacker and bouncer to short.

Westminster (2-2) scored five times in the third when the Titans collected five of their eight hits and were also helped by a walk, stolen base, sacrifice bunt, wild pitch, hit-by-pitch and two-out infield throw error which accounted for three unearned runs. Burdelski and Ashley Chorney each drove in runs in the inning with singles.

Tuesday at Winter Haven, Eastern faces Washington College at 11 a.m. and Thomas More University at 1:15 p.m.
