Summer Cipriani, Softball, Junior, No. Stonington, (Final-2016)

At the utility position, junior Summer Cipriani of North Stonington repeated as a first-team selection to the All-Little East Conference team.  A left-handed pitcher and left-handed-hitting first baseman, Cipriani moved into a fulltime position this year as a left-handed pitcher while also remaining as a parttime first baseman. She was named LEC Pitcher-of-the-Week March 29… During the season, Cipriani batted .351 (second on the team) to raise her career batting average to .364. She led the pitching staff in ERA (3.05), innings (110.1) and strikeouts (40) and was second on the staff in virtually every other category…  in LEC pitching rankings, was seventh in innings. As a hitter, she was 12th in on-base percentage (.431) and slugging (.532) and 13th in batting average (.351). Cipriani led all Eastern players by reaching safely in 13 straight games midway through the season, and shared the team lead with five multi-RBI games and was second with ten multi-hit games. In back-to-back games at mid-season, she was 5-for-8 with a triple and home run, five RBI and three runs scored.
