Rookie-of-the-Week

Anna Barry, Fr., MH, Andover

The weekly honor is the fourth straight for Barry, who attacked at .291 in 12 sets in a 3-0 week which included a Little East Conference home sweep of Plymouth State University that moved the Warriors to within one win of securing their first LEC regular-season title since capturing the third of three straight championships in 2006. Barry had 36 kills during the week for an average of 3.0 per set. She also had four blocks and 11 digs. The six-footer ranks 29^th nationally (first in the LEC) with a .362 attack percentage, 77 percentage points better than her nearest LEC competitor. She is also seventh kills (237) and kills per set (2.76) and ninth in blocks (37). Eastern (18-6, 6-1 LEC) hosts Albertus Magnus College Tuesday at 7 p.m. in a non-conference match.

Women’s Soccer

Defensive Player-of-the-Week

Lauren Valenti, Sr., D, Walpole, MA

En route to being selected for an LEC weekly honor for the first time in her career, Valenti played all but 28 of a possible 270 minutes in a 2-1 week which included two shutouts. With Valenti, Eastern’s defense allowed only 12 opposing shots to reach net. This year, the four-year letterwinner has appeared in 15 matches with nine starts and averages  43.5 minutes per match. Eastern (10-6, 5-2 LEC) closes out the regular season Saturday at Rhode Island College, with a win guaranteeing the Warriors no worse than a share of their fourth straight conference regular-season title.
