PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Eight different players contributed to the scoring and junior keeper Mackenzie MacLeod (Northfield) recorded her second career shutout when the Eastern Connecticut State University women's soccer team routed Rhode Island College, 7-0, Saturday afternoon.

With Eastern's (3-3-0, 1-0-0 little east)  fourth straight win over Rhode Island (2-4-0, 0-1-0 little east), the Warriors posted their highest goal total and largest winning margin against the Anchorwomen in this18-match series. RIC is winless in its last four.

Ranked No. 5 in New England, Eastern ends its longest losing streak (three games) since late September of 2007. The Warriors are the pre-season favorite to win the LEC regular season after going unbeaten in LEC play a year ago.

Junior forward Daniela Marchitto (Orange) scored two goals and assisted on another, junior forward Christine DeFilippo (Ronkonkoma, NY) came off the bench for the first two goals of her career and freshman midfielder Rachael Skinner (Uncasville) came off the bench to registered her first career goal to highlight the Warriors'  41-shot attack.

MacLeod made four saves, three in the second half. The Anchorwomen had a couple of scoring opportunities in the second half on a pair of free kicks from senior midfielder Jenna Childs  but couldn't capitalize. One of which went in and out of the arms of MacLeod and rolled free in front of an empty net, but none of the Anchorwomen forwards could finish.

Marchitto improved her LEC-leading totals to six goals and 15 points and moved into a three-way tie for first with three assists.

Eastern visists Westfield State University Wednesday at 7 p.m.
