WESTFIELD, Mass. – The Eastern Connecticut State University women's soccer team dropped to 1-4 in a five-match road trip, falling to Westfield State University, 2-1, Wednesday night in a non-conference match.

Since winning its first two matches at home, Eastern (3-4-0) has lost four of five on the road. The Warriors were 8-1-3 away from home in 2010. With the win, Westfield (6-1-1) equals its entire victory total of last year, when it lost twice to Eastern by a goal each time.

Westfield (6-1-1) scored twice in the second half to erase Eastern's lead which was forged on junior midfielder Kelly Wallace's (South Windsor) first goal of the season with eight minutes left in the first half. Junior forward Daniela Marchitto (Orange) assisted on the goal, giving her at least one point in five of seven matches this year.

Junior Mackenzie MacLeod (Northfield) made nine saves in net for Eastern, which had trimmed Westfield in the season-opener last year at the Springfield College Invitational and later at home. Freshman Nicky Stasz played the second half in net for Westfield and earned her first collegiate win by making four saves.

Of Westfield's win this year, one has come against nationally-ranked Springfield, 1-0 at Springfield and one was a 3-2 home verdict over Keene State College, one of the top teams in the Little East Conference.

Eastern hosts Plymouth State University Saturday at 1 p.m. in a Little East Conference match at the Mansfield Outdoor Complex in its first home match in three weeks. The Warriors have won the last 12 times the teams have met. The pre-season LEC favorite, Eastern opened its conference slate Saturday with a 7-0 road win over Rhode Island College. Plymouth (3-3-0) was beaten by visiting Massachusetts Dartmouth, 2-1, in its conference opener Saturday.
