Box Score CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Junior back Gavin Neuendorf (Norwich) scored his second career goal in the 60th minute to give the Eastern Connecticut State University men's soccer team a 2-2 tie with MIT Saturday afternoon at Steinbrenner Stadium. The match was called prior to the start of overtime due to thunderstorms.

Junior All-America midfielder Sean Bingham – a 21-goal scorer least year -- scored his third and fourth goals of the year for MIT (1-0-1), giving the Engineers a 1-0 lead in the 11th minute and a 2-1 lead in the 39th minute. First-year sophomore transfer Konnor Scarponi (Brunswick, ME) tied the match with his first goal at Eastern (1-1-1) in the 31st minute, and Neuendorf scored an unassisted goal in the 60th minute to help Eastern tie the match for the second time.
Sophomore Greg Walton (Brunswick, ME) made five saves for Eastern and MIT junior Jake Amereno was credited with four.
The tie comes after Eastern had beaten the Engineers in both previous meetings to open the season at the Babson College Invitational in 2009 and 2010. Eastern and MIT both qualified for NCAA Division III Tournament competition a year ago, the Warriors by winning their third straight Little East Conference playoff tournament and MIT on an at-large basis after losing to Wheaton College in the title game of the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) playoffs.
Eastern visits Ramapo College Saturday at 2 p.m. The Roadrunners are 3-1-0, having loss their first game Saturday against Berry College, 1-0, in Rome, GA. Sunday, Ramapo visits Emory University, ranked No. 24 nationally in Division III. On Aug. 30, Ramapo routed UMass Dartmouth, 4-1. The Corsairs have lost to Eastern in the LEC title game each of the past two years.
Ramapo holds an 8-6-1 edge in the series, but the Warriors will bring a six-game unbeaten (5-0-1) streak against the Roadrunners into the match.
