NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Freshman forward Emily Becher (Brooklyn) scored the first two goals of her career – the second coming just over four minutes into sudden-death overtime – to carry the Eastern Connecticut State University women's soccer team to a 2-1 victory over Albertus Magnus College Sunday afternoon.

Albertus (1-3-0) forced overtime with just over eight minutes left in regulation on a goal by senior Becky Slivinsky (Plainville), but Becher answered in the fifth minute of overtime when she beat a defender and sent the winning shot on a low drive  inside the far post.

For the second straight match, freshman Katie Dadio (Hamden) was credited with the win in a relief role. After playing the second half  Friday in a 3-0 home victory over Johnson & Wales University that gave her her first collegiate win, Dadio made four saves in the second half Sunday to earn her second win after taking over for junior Rachel Skelton (East Lyme) at the start of the second half.

One of four newcomers in the starting lineup, Becher scored on a through-ball from sophomore midfielder Jamie Belden (Middlebury) in the tenth minute for her first career goal that lifted the Warriors into an early lead en route to the victory in the first meeting between the programs.

Freshman have now scored all but one of Eastern's (3-1-0) six goals through four matches: Becher and Nikki Basilicato (Guilford) have two each and Danielle Wendland (Hamden) has contributed one.

Eastern hosts Westfield State University Saturday at 1 p.m. at Thomas Nevers Field. The Warriors ended a two-game losing streak at the hands of the Owls last year with a 1-0 overtime victory – one of 13 1-0 decisions in 2014.
