Box Score WILLIMANTIC, Conn. – Senior forward Erin Brooks (Billerica, MA) had a double-double with 12 points and a career-tying 11 rebounds and all 13 Eastern Connecticut State University women's basketball players saw action in the Warriors' 83-39 non-conference win over the University of Saint Joseph (CT) Tuesday evening at Francis E. Geissler Gymnasium.
Ranked No. 23 nationally, Eastern (4-1) outscored Saint Joseph (0-7) 43-17 in the second half to break from a 40-22 halftime lead.
Brooks was one of four Eastern players in double figures, with senior forward Jill Ritrosky (Pittsfield, MA) adding 14 points, nine rebounds, four assists and four steals, junior guard Julia DePoi (Brookfield) 14 points and seven rebounds and junior center Lexis Foster (Groton) 11 points and six rebounds. Ritrosky was 7-of-10 from the floor and Foster 5-of-5 from the stripe.
Eastern sophomore forward Emily Menendez (Shelton) contributed her first collegiate field goals, chipping in four points while freshman guard Destanii Brantley (Stratford) completed a three-point play with a layup and free throw on her first collegiate shot in the final minute in her first game and added a rebound in five minutes in her collegiate debut.
Sophomore guard Rajeen Mayo led the Blue Jays with 13 points and junior forward Elisha Pertillar grabbed a team-high nine rebounds.
Eastern limited USJ to 26.8 percent shooting from the floor and turned 23 offensive rebounds into 24 points.
Eastern hosts No. 4 nationally-ranked Amherst College Thursday at 7 p.m.
