NEW LONDON, Conn. – Senior guard Bo McKinley came off the bench to score all 12 of his points in the second half – scoring the first eight points in his team's decisive 21-7 run – to lift the Connecticut College men's basketball team to an 85-72 non-conference victory over Eastern Connecticut State University Thursday night at the Charles Luce Field House.
Conn's (5-2) fifth straight win snaps Eastern's (6-3) five-game winning streak and gives the Camels their first win over the Warriors after six consecutive losses.
Eastern led by as many as nine points 3:30 into the second half but the Camels outscored the Warriors 21-7 over a stretch of six minutes which put the hosts in command by 11, 76-65, with 2:21 left.
The six-foot McKinley, scoreless in two first-half minutes, came off the bench for 12 points in 12 second-half minutes. He gave his team its first lead of the second half, 60-58, with a three-point field goal, then pushed the Camels into the lead for good, 63-60, with another basket from long range on Conn's next possession.
Freshman guard Tyler Rowe scored 14 of his game-high 22 points in the second half and added seven rebounds and four steals in the game.
Eastern senior guard Trachone Preston (Enfield) matched Rowe with 22 points and junior forward Hugh Lindo (Enfield) had 14 points, and game-highs of 12 rebounds and seven assists. Senior guard Kevin Leumene (Stamford) had 17 points and eight rebounds and sophomore guard Tarchee Brown (Rockville) 13 points, six rebounds and three assists.
Leading by three at the break following a fast-paced first half, Eastern jumped out quickly in the second half, outscoring Conn 10-4 to amass a nine-point, 51-42 lead less than four minutes into the frame. The Warriors received all of their scoring in that stretch from its back court, with Leumene connecting on three jumpers, Preston one and Brown dunking for another basket.

Six players finished in double figures for Conn, whose bench – led by McKinley and sophomore forward Isaiah Robinson (10 points) outscored Eastern's bench 29-2. The Camels were 9-of-15 from long range while the Warriors missed 13 of 17, and the hosts outscored Eastern by 14, 26-12, from the foul line. Conn was 26-of-29 from the stripe, including 23-of-25 in the second half.
The point total was the second-highest (by two) allowed by Eastern this year – the most given up in a loss.
Eastern hosts Rhode Island College Saturday at 3 p.m. in a Little East Conference game.
