Box Score BOSTON – Eastern Connecticut State University All-New England Region forward Emily Becher (Brooklyn) scored twice to became the fourth player in Eastern Connecticut State University women's soccer history with 40 career goals as the Warriors extended their Little East Conference regular-season unbeaten streak to 16 with a 3-0 victory over the University of Massachusetts Boston Friday night at Boston College High School.
The win is the 200th for 17th-year Eastern head coach Chris D'Ambrosio (200-98-30/65.5 percent), a four-time LEC Coach-of-the-Year and 2010 New England Region Coach-of-the-Year and keeps Eastern (9-3-2 / 4-0-1 LEC) unbeaten and atop the LEC standings with two conference regular-season matches. The Warriors posted their first perfect (7-0-0) conference regular-season slate a year ago.
Since losing 4-2 at UMass Boston in early October of 2014, Eastern has gone 15-0-1 against LEC teams in the regular season.
Becher's first goal came 13 minutes into play and gave her 40 in her three-year career and her eighth goal of the season and 41st of her career came with 17 minutes left that made it 3-0 and helped the Warriors eventually record their 17th shutout in this 25-game series (20-3-2).
Junior forward Rachel Berkowsky (Stoughton, MA), who replaced Becher up top with less than ten minutes left in the first half, notched her first goal of the season with three seconds left in the first half that gave the Warriors a 2-0 halftime lead. Two days earlier, Trinity College had moved out to a 2-0 lead with a goal with seven seconds left in the first half.
Two-time All-LEC junior midfield McKenzie Reimondo (Portland) became the tenth player in program history with as many as three assists in a match when she was credited with a helper on all three goals, giving her a team-high five assists on the season.
Sophomore keeper Kayla Labrecque (Westhampton, MA) made three saves – all in the second half – to record her fourth shutout in her last six starts (fifth overall) and drop her goals-against average under 1.00 to 0.94. Junior back Michele D'Agata (West Suffield) helped preserve the team's seventh shutout when she broke up UMass Boston's (2-10-2, 1-3-1 LEC) best scoring bid with three minutes left. The Beacons were outshot 21-5 and were shut out for the seventh time this year.
UMass sophomore keeper Alyssa Fugiel made double-digit saves for the eighth time this year, totaling 11.
Eastern returns to action Saturday, Oct. 22 with a 2 p.m. conference match at the University of Southern Maine.
