Box Score

SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Sophomore Taylor Franco scored goals less than two minutes apart early in the second half as the Susquehanna University field hockey team held on for a 2-1 victory over Eastern Connecticut State University in the opening round of the Connie Harnum Memorial Classic Friday night at Sassafras field.

In the opener for both schools, Susquehanna outshot Eastern 22-7 and compiled a 15-4 advantage in penalty corners to move into the tournament final Saturday at 5 p.m. Eastern, which had a four-match regular-season winning streak dating back to last year stopped, faces Wilkes University in Saturday's 3 p.m. consolation game.

Wilkes was routed by Kean University, 5-1, Friday.

Graduate student Brianna Passero (Trumbull), who had scored five goals in the final five games of last year, scored her 12th career goal with 16 minutes left in regulation to slice the River Hawks' lead in half.

Eastern goalie Samantha Scavo (Redding) – one of seven seniors in the starting lineup – kept the Warriors in contention by making ten saves, with Susquehanna senior Morgan Ludlam stopping five.
