Box Score MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – All-New England Region junior forward Emily Becher (Brooklyn) scored the 16th game-winning goal of her career and her fifth goal of the season in the 62nd minute stood up as the only goal of the match as the Eastern Connecticut State University women's soccer team trimmed Wesleyan University in a non-conference match Tuesday afternoon.
Ranked eighth in New England, Eastern (7-2-0) ended a four-match winless streak against Wesleyan (2-3-2), winning its third straight and recording its fourth shutout of the year.
Becher scored her 38th career goal off a through-ball from senior midfielder Hailey Lehning (Woodbury), and sophomore keeper Kayla Labrecque (Westhampton, MA) made six saves for her second career shutout in improving her record to 5-1. She raised her save percentage to .719 and lowered her goals-against average to 1.25.
Eastern hosts Western Connecticut Saturday at 1 p.m. in a Little East Conference match. The Warriors share the top spot in the LEC with a 2-0-0 record, while the Colonials are 1-1-0.
