MANSFIELD, Conn. – Junior Alissa Beedle (Bethany) contributed two goals and an assist for her first career points as the Eastern Connecticut State University women's soccer team moved to within one victory or tie of its third straight unbeaten Little East Conference regular season with a 5-1 victory over the University of Massachusetts Boston Friday night at the Mansfield Outdoor Complex.

A defender who started the game at midfield, Beedle's first career goal gave Eastern (7-6-3, 5-0-1 LEC) the lead in the eighth minute when she scored on a breakaway off a pass from junior midfielder Kaley Pratt (Milford, MA). Leading 2-0 at halftime, the Warriors got two goals in ten minutes in the second half to move out to a 4-1 lead with 16 minutes left.

Since losing at UMass Boston (4-10-2, 3-2-1 LEC) on Oct. 4, 2014, Eastern is 22-0-2 in its last 24 LEC regular-season matches.

Eastern outshot UMass, 27-3, including 13-0 in the first half.

After Beedle's second goal of the match off of a pretty feed from senior forward Anna Manser (Manchester) gave the Warriors a 3-0 lead nine minutes into the second half, Kerri Alexander got the Beacons on the board midway through the half with her team-leading sixth goal of the season before senior forward Maggie Bodington (Stratford) finished Beedle's cross with a header 24 seconds later as the Warriors regained their three-goal edge.

Junior Kayla Labrecque (Westhampton, MA) and sophomore Erin Collins (Millis, MA) combined in net for Eastern, making one save between them. Alyssa Fugiel and Jessie Tenaglia split time in goal for UMB, each making two saves.

The points were the first of the season for Manser, who sat out all of last year with an injury and senior forward Rachel Berkowsky (Stoughton, MA) scored her first of the season when she rounded out the scoring inside the final seven minutes when she scored on a rebound of an initial shot saved by Tenaglia.

 Eastern has a conference-leading 16 points and closes out the LEC regular season Oct. 28, hosting the University of Southern Maine. Western Connecticut, which defeated top-seeded Eastern in last year's LEC final, has 13 points but has played one less match. The Colonials host Plymouth State University Saturday and visit UMass Boston Oct. 28 on the final day of the LEC regular season.
