Box Score MANSFIELD, Conn. – Sophomore back Alyssa Kogelmann connected on a 40-yard bomb on the first shot of the match seven minutes into play and the No. 16 Connecticut College women's soccer team bounced back from its only loss of the season with a 3-0 non-conference win over Eastern Connecticut State University Wednesday night at the Mansfield Outdoor Complex.
Coming off a 1-0 overtime loss to No. 4 nationally-ranked Williams College Saturday, Conn (8-1-1) piled up a 16-1 advantage in shots in defeating Eastern (5-5-2) for the seventh time in the last nine meetings.
Ranked No. 3 in New England, Conn made it 2-0 in the 30th minute on senior midfielder Lauren Steele's third goal of the year and closed out the scoring with just under four minutes left when freshman midfielder Cate Howe headed in senior midfielder Alexa Tribelli's (Cranston, RI) corner kick for the first goal of her career.
Eastern visits Western Connecticut State University Saturday at 2 p.m. in a Little East Conference showdown of unbeatens.
