MANSFIELD, Conn. – The Eastern Connecticut State University women's lacrosse team equaled its lowest number of goals allowed in a game nine years, forcing 29 turnovers and connecting on 13 of its 18 shots in a 13-2 non-conference win over Fitchburg State University Tuesday evening at the Mansfield Outdoor Complex.

Off to its best start after six games in the 22-year history of the program, Eastern (5-1) scored 12 consecutive goals to break a 1-1 tie, holding Fitchburg (2-4) 55 minutes between goals.

The Warriors took only four second-half shots -- converting each of them – after building a 9-1 halftime lead. Eastern held an 11-6 advantage in draw controls, with seven different players collecting at least one. Ten different players contributed a goal or assist, with senior midfielder Paige Schneider (East Lyme) improving her team-high goal total to 21 by netting four. She moved into seventh place all-time in career goals, with 141.

Three-time All-Little East Conference defender and 2016 LEC Defensive Player-of-the-Year Devyne Doran (South Kingstown, RI) had four ground balls, Schneider adding three ground balls and three caused turnovers. Sophomore  midfielder Erin Sheehan (North Branford)  contributed her first goal of the season late in the second half.

Eastern senior Taylor Emmerson (Colchester) stopped eight shots for her fifth win in six starts this year.

Junior midfielder Carrie Long  picked up a game-high six ground balls and caused three turnovers.
