Box Score MANSFIELD, Conn. – Junior Aly Clarke (Mystic) and senior Maggie Bodington (Stratford) scored goals seven minutes apart in the second half as the Eastern Connecticut State University women's soccer team extended its unbeaten streak to 21 (20-0-1) matches in Little East Conference regular-season play over four seasons in a 2-1 Little East Conference victory over Plymouth State University Saturday afternoon at the Mansfield Outdoor Complex.
Clarke scored her team-leading seventh goal of the season on a tying 30-yard shot with 18 minutes left, and Bodington's second goal of the season – a 12-yard blast from the middle of the box – proved to be the game-winner with 10:41 left.
Eastern (5-4-2, 3-0-0 LEC) remains atop the LEC standings with Western Connecticut, which improved to 3-0-0 in the conference with a 4-1 road win over UMass Dartmouth. Plymouth (3-5-0, 0-3-0 LEC) lost for the sixth straight time to Eastern.
On the go-ahead goal, Bodington's slide tackle dislodged the ball to the left of the goal and to the foot of junior Kaley Pratt (Milford, MA). Pratt, who played 70 minutes off the bench, made a quick left-footed pass back to Bodington cutting through the box. Bodington, who had checked into the game less than two minutes earlier, took several touches and boomed a 12-yard under the crossbar.
On the tying goal, sophomore Abbey Fitzsimmons (West Hartford) – who entered the game moments earlier – knocked down a Plymouth clearing pass in the middle of the field and layed it off to the right to Clarke, who took two touches and unloaded a high ball though the hands of Plymouth freshman goalie Molly Robinson and under the crossbar.
Robinson allowed both Eastern goals after replacing injured freshman starter Jenna Parsons (Windham, NH) seven minutes into the second half.

Freshman Mallory Lloyd converted the Panthers' first shot in the eighth minute to give the visitors the early lead. In scoring her team-leading sixth goal, Lloyd retrieved a loose ball after freshman teammate Diana Whittier separated the ball from Eastern sophomore Linnea Reich (Middletown) with a jarring hit off an Eastern throw-in. Taking control near midfield, Lloyd's speed left three Eastern defenders in her wake. She cut inside the box and when the Eastern keeper came out, slid a low shot inside the left post.
Eastern junior Kayla Labrecque (Westhampton, MA) made one save for her fourth win of the year. Parsons stopped one shot and Robinson two for Plymouth.
Eastern did not allow a Plymouth corner kick and amassed a 16-7 advantage in shots (10-1 in the second half).
Eastern hosts Connecticut College Wednesday at 7 p.m. in a non-conference match.
