Sophomore defender Christina diBenedetto (Stratford) scored her first career goal, as did sophomore attack sophomore attack Kate Barner (Southington), with senior defender Aiyana Ward (Waterbury) chipping in her first goal of the year.

With LEC draws leader Caroline Stent (Weatogue) seeing limited time, sophomore midfielder Kaylee Drobish (Wallingford) helped the Warriors to a +5 edge in that category by winning a career-high eight.

In her second career start, first-year goalie Emma Alford (West Hartford) made three saves to post her first collegiate win. Alford gave way to first-year goalie Madeline Horkey (Montville) with Eastern leading 19-1 with six minutes left in the third quarter.

Senior midfielder Natalie Kulacz and sophomore attack Maddie Kross each scored twice for Rhode Island, with senior midfielder Olivia Carpenito winning five draws and junior midfielder Ashley Rewers four.

Eastern visits Castleton University Saturday at 4 p.m. in a conference match. The Spartans (1-9, 0-2 LEC) dropped their fifth straight Wednesday, 13-9 to visiting Mount Saint Mary. The Warriors have won all seven matches in the series with Castleton, all by double-digits.
