The two teams have combined for six national championships and have competed in 64 NCAA tournaments (including 2022) and have qualified for 18 national tournaments but have never met in the NCAA post-season… the teams both appeared in the 2004 national tournament at Grand Chute, WI, Eastern placing second to George Fox University and Rowan winning once, also losing to George Fox…

Eastern is playing its 36^th NCAA Division III tournament, where it is 92-50 (including this year), and is in its first Super Regional… the Warriors have competed in 12 NCAA national tournaments, winning titles in 1982, 1990, 1998 and 2002… Rowan has won seven regional championships in 28 NCAA appearances (71-52 record) and captured the second and third Division III national championships contested  in 1978 and 1979 and is coming off last year's Super Regional title and national tournament appearance…

In 2021, Rowan won three best-of-three series in the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) tournament, winning the second and third series in two straight after taking the deciding game in the first series with Stockton University… the Profs then swept four games in the Marietta College regional to qualify for their first national tournament in 16 years… before going 0-2 in the national tournament at Cedar Rapids…

In 2021, Eastern qualified as an at-large selection to the NCAA tournament after winning the Little East Conference regular-season title and placing second in the LEC tournament and lost its first two in the regionals at Auburn, NY…

Annville, PA Regional champion Rowan and Rochester, NY Regional Eastern  have split ten games in this series but are playing at Eastern's home field for the first time… the first four games in the series were played at Rowan (Eastern winning three) and the last six have been played on the Florida spring trip (Rowan winning four)… Rowan won the most recent game, 17-11, in 2015 at Winter Haven, when the teams combined for 30 hits – ten of them for extra bases – and used nine pitchers… the Profs scored five runs in the bottom of the first in that game and never trailed… that win was the second in the coaching career of eighth-year Rowan head coach Mike Dickson…

Eastern head coach Brian Hamm won his 300^th game as a college head coach this year and reached 100 wins at Eastern in a 17-4 regional win over his alma mater, Middlebury College…
In a three-game regional sweep, Eastern batted .322, with Jack Rich batting .500, Matt Malcom .455 and Luke Broadhurst .417… MVP Ryan Bagdasarian drove in seven runs, two with a tying two-out HR in the bottom of the ninth against Middlebury in the final… Tommy Benincaso won one game as a starter and Bryan Albee and Jack Wallace each won one in relief… in seven post-season conference and regional games, Eastern is batting .320 with a .981 fielding average and 2.66 ERA… John Mesagno is batting .407, Rich .385 and Broadhurst .375… Bagdasarian has 11 RBI, Malcom nine, Mesagno eight and Zach Donahue seven… Mesagno has three home runs and Rich and Bagdasarian two each in seven post-season games…
 

In its three regional wins, Rowan had a .405 batting average and 2.33 ERA… Michael Miles threw a complete-game three-hit shutout in the 9-0 championship game win over Washington & Jefferson while Eli Atiya and Jason O'Neill also started and won games in the tournament… six players batted over .400 in the tournament, led by MVP Hunter Wroniuk (.667)… batting seventh in the lineup, Wroniuk was 6-for-9 with five runs scored and four RBI, with three of his hits doubles… Wroniuk reached nine times in the tournament and also had two sac bunts… Eric DiDomenico batted .600 with five RBI, five runs, a home run and a .714 on-base percentage… in addition to batting .405, Rowan batters reached nine times on walks and HBP…

In its regional final, eight of Eastern's ten starters were either seniors or grad students… Rowan started five such players in its regional title game…

In losing both of its NJAC tournament games this year, Rowan committed seven errors but they led to only two unearned runs… two TCNJ pitchers combined on a five-hitter in Rowan's second game… TCNJ scored in only two innings of that game but the Lions posted four in the fifth (three coming on a home run) to break open a scoreless pitcher's duel and added five in the seventh (four on a grand slam)…

The Warriors committed only three errors in four Little East tournament wins and six pitchers combined on a 1.32 ERA with 31 strikeouts against eight walks… MVP Bryan Albee had a win and a save and walked only one in 10 2/3 innings… Billy Oldham pitched a six-hitter with 12 strikeouts (against one walk) in a second-round shutout win over 2021 champion University of Southern Maine… Oldham has both of the staff's complete-game shutouts, with the USM win the only nine-inning shutout by an Eastern pitcher this year…

One win for Eastern will tie the program record of 43 set in 2003 and equaled in 2004. Regardless of the outcome in the NCAA, the Warriors will break the season record for winning percentage, set in 1972 (.880) and also will break the season winning percentage in 30-win seasons, set during the 1990 national title year (.870). The team's current 16-game winning streak equals the fifth-best in program history, seven behind the all-time mark of 23 set in 2003…  

Eastern is ranked among the national Top 10 in six team categories: in pitching, 1^st in WHIP (1.13), second in ERA (2.97), ninth in least walks allowed per game (2.64), and tied for tenth in shutouts (6) and offensively, fourth in runs (467) and fourth in scoring (10.4)…

Rowan's Christian Bascunan ranks in a tie for sixth nationally with ten (of his team's 12) saves, while Anthony Schooley shares 14^th place with 20 doubles on a team where seven players have at least ten…

Albee is tied for second nationally in wins (11), fifth in least hits allowed per nine innings (5.04), seventh in ERA (1.53) and eighth in WHIP (0.83) while Oldham is tied for 15^th in wins (9)…  Broadhurst is 12^th in slugging (.810) and 14^th in on-base percentage (.549)...

EASTERN BY THE NUMBERS…

Team is guaranteed of the best winning percentage in a season in program history, regardless of the outcome in the NCAA. The next win will also tie the season record of 43 wins.
If it wins the Super Regional, it will tie the record of 22 home wins set in 2003 and equaled in 2004.

Eastern is batting .341 as a team. The season record is .347, set by the 1998 national title team.

The .972 fielding percentage in 2021 established a season record. This year's team is at .971.

Three players have already scored 50 runs this year, with Donahue (49) and Malcom (47) potentially giving them five.
