NEW LONDON -- The Eastern Connecticut State University women's volleyball team reeled off ten straight points early in the important third set and went on to its tenth win without a loss in the series in a four-set decision over Mitchell College Thursday evening at the Yarnall Athletic Center. Scores were 25-19, 20-25, 25-19, 25-8.
After Mitchell (2-4) tied the match with a five-point win in the second set, Eastern (5-2) scored ten straight points in the third set to move out to a 14-3 lead en route to the six-point victory. In the third set, sophomore

Samantha Blandford (Windham, NH) contributed two service aces.In the ten-point run, Blandford served nine straight points -- two of them coming on aces -- and junior
Bella Johnson (Marlborough) had three kills and senior
Paige Savitsky (Centereach, NY) and first-year player
Haley Jo Bridges (Montebello, NY) one each. Three of the points came off Mitchell attack errors.

Johnson led Eastern with eight kills, junior
Taylor Smith (Bowie, MD) adding six kills on a .462 attack percentage and first-year player
Brooke Praskievicz (Moodus) had seven kills and attacked at .250 with ten digs.
Sophomore
Liz Squier (Trevor, WI) had 17 assists, junior
Cassie Parmelee (East Berlin) 11 digs and Bridges and Smith three blocks each.
Eastern visits WPI Saturday at noon.
