Women's Soccer: Eastern Drops to Trinity in Non-Conference Loss

HARTFORD, Conn. — Eastern Connecticut State University women's soccer fell 3-0 in a decisive non-conference loss to Trinity College.

The Bantams were powered by Sara Rieger's brace and a late strike from Sophia Simmons in a commanding shutout Wednesday night at Trinity Soccer Field.

  • Trinity broke through off a throw-in, offense worked the ball deep into Bantam attacking territory, and Correnti muscled a long ball that found Almoney, who slipped it through to Sara Rieger. The forward got herself a soaring header over the Eastern defense and keeper, landing the ball dead center to open scoring.
  • Trinity gathered insurance just seven minutes after the opening goal. Off a sharp sequence initiated by Emma Rose, the midfielder sent a perfectly timed cross into the box, finding Rieger again for a left-footed finish that curled high inside the right corner.
