Rookie-of-the-Week
Julia Ames, Fy., Pawtucket, RI (Cumberland)
Becomes the third different member of the program to gain weekly rookie honors, giving Eastern four Rookies-of-the-Week in all this year. At the Chris Fisher Wheaton College Invitational over the weekend, she recorded 29 points in two individual events and swam a leg of three relays which added 68 more points. Ames was fourth in the 100 backstroke (1:02.98) and fifth in the 200 backstroke (2:16.20) and swam a leg of the seventh-place 400 freestyle relay (3:58.33), eighth-place 400 medley relay (4:26.42) and eighth-place 200 medley relay (1:56.99). Eastern finished fourth among five institutions with 447 points in a meet won by Babson College. Heading into the invite, Ames had won the 200 backstroke in the home-opener Nov. 8 vs. Husson University in 2:23.26 and had taken fourth place in a field of 21 with a time of 1:06.44 in the 100 backstroke. The Warriors close out the 2025 portion of their schedule Dec. 5-6 at the Connecticut Cup, hosted by Wesleyan University.
