Women's Soccer: Three Score First Career Goals in Rout of Blue Jays

MANSFIELD, Conn. — Eastern Connecticut State women's soccer earns its first win of the season in impressive fashion, Wednesday night at Rick McCarthy Field.

  • 9:51 (1-0) – Katelyn Herbert opened the scoring for the Warriors, lofting the ball into the back of the net on a headed through ball from first year Michaela Gasparri
  • 32:23 (2-0)– Gasparri added a second for Eastern, brilliantly shifting the ball onto her left foot for an empty net finish against an onrushing Madison Corcoran
  • 62:16 (3-0) – Lauren Weaver put the game to bed, being the first to react to her own shot of the post. Lilly Simpson is credited with her second assist of the night
  • 69:16 (4-0) – Arianna Tomassi found herself alone at the back post, following a cross from Abby Kearns that snuck through the Blue Jays back line. Emily Dunlea gets an assist on her through ball to Kearns

  • Michaela Gasparri, Lauren Weaver, and Arianna Tomassi all scored their first career goals tonight, including a first career assist from Gasparri
  • Sophiya Qureshi made her debut, entering the game in the 65th minute
  • Herbert hit the post less than 2 minutes after her goal, again combining with Gasparri on the right
  • The Warriors held the Blue Jays to just 2 shots, neither on target, reflecting a dominant performance from their back line
