Player-of-the-Week
Marissa Nudd, Jr., Colchester (Bacon Academy)
First weekly selection in the two-year career of the 2024/25 second-team All-LEC selection.
On Tuesday, also named the New England Women's Basketball Association (NEWBA) Player-of-the-Week. In a 1-1 week against Little East Conference opponents, the 5-foot-11 inch forward averaged 27.5 points with a 66.7 shooting percentage and 5.5 rebounds with four total steals. She was 3-of-7 from distance and 4-of-4 from the foul line. In an 82-52 home win over VTSU Castleton, Nudd tied the 33-year-old program record with 36 points. She was 10-of-15 from the floor, 2-of-4 from distance and 4-of-4 from the foul line. She also had five rebounds and two steals. Nudd poured in 26 of the team's 35 first-half points when she was 10-of-11 from the floor (2-of-2 from distance) and 4-of-4 from the foul line. In 14 second-half minutes in that game, Nudd scored ten points on 5-of-9 field goal shooting. The point total is the second-highest by a Little East player this year. In a 76-62 loss at the University of Southern Maine, Nudd had 19 points (9-of-16 FG), six rebounds and two steals. Nudd has started all 16 games for the 7-9 (4-3 LEC) Warriors and tops the club in minutes (36.4), scoring (18.4), rebounding (6.9), free throw percentage (78.0), and field goal percentage (46.9). She ranks third in the LEC in scoring, eighth in rebounding, tenth in free throw percentage, and sixth in field goal percentage.
Sharing fourth place in the Little East, Eastern hosts Rhode Island College Wednesday at 5 p.m. in the first of two home-and-home LEC games this year to mark the halfway point of the conference schedule. The Anchorwomen (11-5, 5-2 LEC) share second place in the conference.
Rookie-of-the-Week
Maddie Topa, Fy., New Hartford (Northwestern Regional)
Fourth-time selection (in last six weeks) and second in as many weeks. In a 1-1 week against Little East Conference opponents, the 5-foot-8 inch guard/forward averaged 13.5 points on 45.0 percent shooting (4-of-8 from distance) from the floor and 83.0 percent free throw shooting (5-of-6) and added five rebounds, four steals and four assists with only two turnovers in 64 minutes. In a 76-62 loss at the University of Southern Maine, Topa had 16 points, two rebounds, two assists and a blocked shot. She was 5-of-10 from the floor (3-of-5 from distance) and 3-of-4 from the foul line. For the 7-9 (4-3 LEC) Warriors, Topa is third on the team in scoring (10.6) as one of three double-digit scorers. She also averages 4.1 rebounds and is shooting 42.7 percent from the floor and 77.4 percent from the foul line with 17 three-point field goals , 27 steals, 27 assists and ten blocked shots in an average of 27.2 minutes. She has appeared in all 16 games and has started (the last) 12. Rookie Swimmer-of-the-Week
Rachel Mathews, Fy., West Hartford (Conard)
Becomes the program's sixth Rookie-of-the-Week and the fourth different Eastern individual to gain the honor. In a 202-77 dual meet win at the University of Saint Joseph Saturday, the versatile freestyler won the 100 (1:00.75) and 1000 (11:52.51) events in her first time swimming those distances, and also swam anchor (27.99) on the 200 freestyle relay (1:54.07) which placed second. She outraced the competition in the 100 by over three seconds. Eastern closes the regular season Saturday, hosting Norwich University of Senior Day before competing in the Little East Championships Feb. 12-15 at the Boston Sports Institute.

Rookie Field Athlete-of-the-Week
Casondra Caldwell, Fy., Bridgeport (Great Oaks Charter)
First-time selection becomes the program's fourth weekly honoree, three of whom have been named Rookie-of-the-Week. In her first collegiate meet at the University of Rhode Island non-scoring competition, Caldwell broke Savonnah Artis' 16-year-old program record of 37-0 ¼ in the triple jump with a mark of 37-2 ¾. Moreover, three of her six jumps also broke Artis' record, each carrying more than 37 feet. After fouling on her first attempt, she set the current record in her second try. The jump was the third-longest in program history behind the outdoor marks of Artis (37-5 ¾) and Natalie Bowens (37-5). In a field of 16 mostly Division I athletes, Caldwell placed third overall. In addition to the triple jump, Caldwell was seventh overall (first freshman) in the long jump with a mark of 17-0 ½ , becoming the seventh female in program history to break 17 feet. Caldwell fouled on her first two tries, and was marked at 16-7 ½ on her third before recording her 17-0 ¼. Eastern competes at the Wesleyan University Invitational Saturday at 10 a.m.
