WILLIMANTIC, Conn. – The Eastern Connecticut State University women's and men's swim teams got points from 38 different swimmers when they closed out the regular season on Senior Day with a split of a dual meet with first-time opponent Norwich University at the Sports Center pool.

A total of 21 different individuals contributed to the women's final point total as the Warriors recorded eight individual firsts and one winning relay in a 170-92 victory. For the men, 17 individuals contributed points as the men won two individual events and both relays in a 150-112 loss to the once-beaten Cadets.

For the women, double winners
Natasha Frisch (Mendota Heights, MN),
Julia Ames (Pawtucket, RI),
Ashley Carvente (Norwalk) and
Jai-Lynn Wheeler (Stonington) all amassed 18 points in individual events to collect 72 of the team's final point total, combining for all eight of the team's individual firsts. Frisch is a senior and the other three are first-year competitors.

Point leaders for the men were senior
Sam Hurlburt (Meriden) and junior
Boden Tito (Southington). Both Hurlburt and Tito won one event and placed second in another to compile a team-leading 13 points.

In addition to her 18 points in individual competition, Ames swam additionally on two relays which contributed points, as did
Jai-Lynn Wheeler. Frisch and Carvente each contributed two one relay.

Both the Eastern women and men opened the meet by winning the 200 medley relay while the men closed the meet by also claiming the 200 freestyle relay. Competing for the women's winning relay were first-year swimmer
Lauren Waitkus (Cheshire), Frisch, Carvente and Jail-Lynn Wheeler. First-year swimmer
Spencer Bagtaz (Wilmington, MA), Hurlburt, and juniors
Eric Quiterio (Windsor) and
Ryan Jezek (Avon) teamed on the winning 200 medley and Jezek, sophomore
Tate Peterson (Wareham, MA), Quiterio and junior
Samuel Ainscough (Mystic) combined on the winning 200 freestyle relay.

Jezek and Bagtaz each placed second in two events to contributed eight points each to the men's total.

In addition to Frisch, seniors also gaining points for the women in the final dual and home meet of their careers were
Camille Attle (Bristol),
Kaitlyn Nielsen (Berlin), Emily Madden (Manchester) and
Olivia Grimm (North Haven). Attle totalled seven points with a second and third, Nielsen six with a second and fourth, Madden five with a second and fifth and Grimm one with a fifth.

Joining Hurlburt as a senior adding a point was
Deagan Granville (Newtown), who picked up one point with a fifth-place finish.

In eight events, the Eastern women commanded at least the top two spots, which included 1-2-3 in the 100 freestyle and 200 individual medley which brought in 16 points in each. Fifteen of the men's points came in a 1-2-4 placement in the 100 breaststroke.

Both the Eastern women and men close out the regular season with 3-1 dual-meet records. In the last three seasons, the Eastern women are 18-5 in dual meets, with the men at 13-4.

Eastern heads into the Little East Conference Championships Feb. 13-15 at the Boston Sports Institute which closes out the season. The Eastern men won their first LEC title last year while the women captured their first crown two years ago.

The Norwich men bring a 6-1 dual-meet record into the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Championships Feb. 6-8 at WPI while the women closed out their regular season at 4-3 heading into their conference championship.
