Box Score NEW LONDON, Conn. – The Eastern Connecticut State University Women's Lacrosse team (0-2) traveled to New London for the second and final time this season, taking on the Camels of Connecticut College (1-0) at Silfen Field on Saturday. Last Saturday, the Warriors suffered a 17-2 defeat to Coast Guard Academy in their opening game of the season.
Conn College opened the scoring through Hannah Prescott after just one minute and 16 seconds, but
Jenna Mahoney (North Reading, MA) responded quickly for the Warriors. Mahoney's goal, assisted by
Alexa Vizzini (Vernon, NJ), gave Eastern their final draw of the afternoon. Less than a minute after Mahoney's goal, Conn's Campbell Johnston gave her team the lead for good.
Eastern's final goal of the first half came through the aforementioned Vizzini, who scored her second of the season on a player-up opportunity. The Camels scored another two goals to extend their advantage to three, before Johnston closed out the second quarter with three consecutive goals, giving her team a commanding 8-2 advantage heading into halftime. While turnovers in the first half were similar for both teams, as Eastern had 13 turnovers compared to Conn's nine, the caused turnovers stat was most notable. The Camels forced six turnovers from the Warriors, who did not cause a turnover in the first 30 minutes of play.
The Camels picked up where they left off coming out of the break, outscoring the Warriors 4-0 in the third quarter. Elizabeth Gill received her third and fourth assists of the game on the final two goals of the third. Johnston struck again for the opening goal of the fourth quarter, but
Jocelyn Kennedy (Southington) got one back for the Warriors from a free position shot, making the score 13-3. With the game winding down, Johnston scored her 7
th goal of the afternoon for the Camels and helped her team to a 14-3 victory over the Warriors.
The Warriors are back in action on Wednesday, March 11 at 4 p.m. for their home opener against the University of Saint Joseph Bluejays. USJ is 0-1 on the season, playing their second match of the season against Albright College on Saturday in Reading, PA. The Bluejays will play their third match of 2026 against FDU-Florham on March 4, before taking the trip to Rick McCarthy Field in 11 days. In the March 4 meeting between these teams last year, the Warriors came out on top, winning 18-5 at the USJ Athletic Complex. Vizzini led all players with four goals, scoring two in the opening quarter.
