Women's Lacrosse: In LEC Opener, Warriors Look to Stop USM's Recent Dominance

  • 32nd meeting all time, dating back toĀ 2001. Eastern owns a 19-12 lead all-time and won the first 12 meetings but the Huskies have owned a 6-1 winning advantage in the last seven meetings
  • Ā Southern Maine got its first win vs. Eastern in 2010, defeating the Warriors 15-14 at Rick McCarthy Field in Mansfield
  • In the 2025 season, the Warriors traveled to Gorham, ME to take on Southern Maine on the last day of the regular season. The Huskies won 15-13 on their Senior Day, fueled by seven goals from current graduate student Katelyn D'Appolonia. Southern Maine lost to Western Connecticut, 11-10, in the 2025 LEC semifinals
  • The teams last met in Mansfield during the 2024 season, a match the Warriors won 12-10. Eastern was led by Jenna Mahoney, who scored four of the last five goals of the game (Neely Hart scored the other) to give the Warriors a comeback win. The Huskies did not score a goal in the entirety of the fourth quarter

  • Eastern is 2-0 at home this season, scoring a combined 36 goals across its two games. In the home opener against the University of Saint Joseph, the Warriors won 17-7 and were led by five goals from Hannah Seltzer and another five from Alexa Vizzini
  • In Eastern's 19-15 win against Worcester State in Mansfield on Wednesday, Vizzini, who is ranked fourth all-time in points (225), fifth in goals (179) and 14thĀ in assists (46), scored ten goals to tie the match record set initially by Alumni Hall of Famer Erin Byrnes, who had ten against Montclair State in 1998. Her 13 points are one shy of the match record set by Shay Ventresca against VTSU Castleton three seasons ago
  • Southern Maine opened its season against Worcester State on February 28, defeating the Lancers 12-9. The Warriors and Huskies do not have any other common opponents thus far, but will soon consistently face conference opponents in April

  • Vizzini leads the Little East Conference in goals per game with 4.00, scoring 20 in just five games this season, and is also the conference leader in points per game with 5.20
  • She ranks sixth in the conference in total goals, despite playing at least three games less than all players above her. D'Appolonia is tied for first in the conference in assists with 15 and assists per game with 1.88.
  • Emma Morrison of Southern Maine has the best goals-against-average in the LEC at 7.11. She has allowed 28 goals in four games, playing a total of 236 minutes and 26 seconds
  • D'Appolonia ranks third in the conference in ground balls per game with 4.00 and fourth in draw controls per game with 4.13. Vizzini ranks fifth in draw controls per game with 4.00 after winning nine of the team's total of 16 against Worcester State
