Baseball: A Winner of 4 in a Row, Warriors Look to End Four-Game Skid vs. Amherst

  • 42ndĀ meeting all time. Eastern owns the series lead 26-15, seeking its first win since 2015. Amherst has won the previous four meetings
  • Last year, the teams met on April 16 in a game played on Memorial Field in Amherst, MA. The Mammoths defeated the Warriors 9-3, scoring seven runs in the bottom of the sixth to take a 9-2 lead. Four of the five Amherst runs were scored on walks, including the first three runs of the sixth. Jack Sampedro doubled to left center, driving in three runs later in the inning
  • In the win over Amherst in 2015, Warriors' head coach Mike Odenwaelder opened the scoring for the Mammoths with an RBI single. Eastern scored four in the bottom of the seventh, winning 6-2

  • The Warriors are on a four-game winning streak, including a 28-8 win over Johnson & Wales in their only non-conference game of this stretch. The final run total is six shy of the program game record set in 1991 against Colby College and the hit total (25) is four behind the mark established against Western Connecticut State University in 1982 and equaled against UMass Boston in 2009. The 58 official at-bats breaks the program's game record by one, set in 1998 against Western Connecticut and equaled in 2001 against Rhode Island College.
  • The Mammoths won two of three against the 18-7 Jumbos of Tufts University, a team that has defeated 22ndĀ ranked Endicott College and previously ninth-ranked Trinity (TX). In game three against Tufts, Charlie LaFreniere walked it off for Amherst, singling to right center as the Mammoths won 9-8 and won the Saturday doubleheader

  • Eastern's E.J. Nevills was a member of the Amherst College baseball team last season. He made five starts over six appearances, allowing 23 hits in 30.0 innings, struck out 25 batters, allowed 17 walks, and possessed an ERA of 2.40 and did not give up a home run all season
