Baseball: Warriors Look for Sweep With Wolves in Home-and-Home Little East Set

Series History:Ā 
  • Ā Eastern leads the all-time series which began in 1969, 95-9, winning the last 19 games in the series, having last been defeated ten years ago in a 1-0 game at the Eastern Baseball Stadium. The Warriors are 53-7 at home against the Wolves and 33-2 away, winning all nine neutral site games
  • The teams met twice in the 2025 season, playing the first game at Westside Field in Danbury on April 15. The Warriors defeated the Wolves 23-6 in just seven innings, scoring 12 runs in the sixth inning. Recording just 13 hits on the day, Eastern capitalized on four errors from the Wolves and were either walked/hit by pitches 18 times
  • Two weeks later, the Warriors hosted Western Connecticut and starting pitcher Jake Shaughnessy earned the win as Eastern Connecticut won 17-0 in another seven-inning game. Sean Fallon went 3-4 with a RBI and a run. Both Shaughnessy and Fallon are expected to start in the 2026 home game against Western Connecticut

  • The Warriors are 2-2 in their last four conference games, falling to Keene State College in a home doubleheader, but defeating UMass Boston in a home doubleheader the following weekend. Having allowed just four runs over the two games against UMass Boston, Eastern Connecticut fell to nationally ranked Endicott College on Monday, 18-5, giving up 11 runs in the top of the seventh
  • The Wolves are also 2-2 in their last four conference games, defeating Plymouth State University 10-9 in Game 2 of a doubleheader and falling 13-3 to the Warriors in seven innings three days later. Jake Soellner earned his first career win on the mound, getting through an inning with just eight pitches. In their last Little East Conference doubleheader ten days ago, the Wolves split with VTSU Castleton, winning game one by a score of 8-6 and losing game two 12-7
Game Notes:
  • Eastern and Western Connecticut have nearly identical team batting averages. The Warriors average .295 and the Wolves average .291. The difference lies in the average team ERAs, with the Warriors sitting at 5.53 and the Wolves at 8.64
  • Western Connecticut's Billy Untiet, Josef Rosa, and Giani Chieffalo hold three of the top six spots in batting average in the conference standings (min. 50 at bats)
  • Ian Moser ranks second in the conference with 52 RBIs for Eastern Connecticut, while Western Connecticut's Nick Lobouno ranks seventh with 39
  • Moser, Dylan Jackson, Danny DiNorcia, Matthew Carrera, and the LEC leader Teige Kimbler all have more stolen bases than Western Connecticut's leader, Thomas Keough, who is six for six
