Women's Lacrosse: Warriors Hope to Keep Momentum Going in Series With RIC

Team Records:

Eastern: 3-5 overall, 1-1 LEC
Rhode Island College: 1-7 overall, 0-3 LEC

Series History:
  • The teams have met at least once every season since 2001, the Warriors having won 24 of the 25 matches. All of the matches have come in Little East Conference play, with the exception of the first match contested in 2001.
  • Rhode Island's win in the series came by a score of 10-9 at Providence during the Warriors' 3-15 season in 2019. In that game, the Anchorwomen broke the final tie with a free-position goal with nine minutes left and neither team was able to score thereafter. RIC goalie Julia Eaton turned back 18 shots in that match as the team's combined for 68 shots.
  • Only one of Eastern's wins in the series has come by one goal, that by an 11-10 score in 2012 at Eastern in the only LEC playoff match contested between the teams.

Game Notes
  • Eastern is 2-1 at home this year, RIC 1-4 on the road. The Warriors are coming off a 13-11 road win over LEC foe UMass Boston Friday while RIC dropped its third straight, 21-9, at conference foe VTSU Castleton on Saturday.
  • Eastern's Alexa Vizzini ranks third in the LEC in goals (29) while Lily Nees of RIC is sixth (21). Nees and Brie Macaruso have combined for 35 of RIC's 53 goals this year.
  • Giana Franco of RIC is the LEC leader with a .539 save percentage despite a 1-4 record and is second by averaging 9.86 saves per match.
  • RIC looks to snap a 32-game LEC regular-season losing streak, its last LEC win coming at UMass Dartmouth on the final day of the 2021 regular season.
  • Vizzini tops Eastern in draws, goals, assists, points, shots and free-position goal, Emma Oliano leading the club in ground balls and caused turnovers. Nees leads the Anchorwomen in every individual statistical category.
  • Eastern and RIC rank 8-9 in the nine-team conference.
