MANSFIELD, Conn. –  Strong offensive efforts from Eastern Connecticut women's lacrosse routed the Rhode Island College Anchormen for a deafening 19-4 Warrior's victory, Wednesday night at Rick McCarthy Field.

Complemented by trio hat tricks from Alexa Vizzini (Vernon, NJ), Thea O'Connor (Rocky Hill), and Emma Oliano (Wallingford), the Warriors overwhelmed the Anchormen in the first half and never looked back. The goals were the first at Eastern for O'Connor, a junior transfer and sister of former Eastern letterwinner, Bree.

Game Information:
  • Score: Eastern Connecticut State University 19, Rhode Island College 4
  • Records: Eastern (4-5) (LEC 2-1), Rhode Island (1-8) (LEC 0-4)
  • Location: Mansfield, Conn, | (Rick McCarthy Field)
How It Happened:
Eastern set the tone early, jumping out to a 2-0 lead in the first quarter behind Oliano and Vizzini, holding Rhode Island scoreless to later take a 10-1 lead at halftime. Eastern added four more goals in the third to extend its lead to 14-2, with five goals in the final quarter.

Warrior's goalkeeper Savannah Goodness (New Fairfield) only tallied one save to RIC's 14, and the win lifts Eastern to 2-1 in conference play while the Anchormen still search for their first Little East win of the season.
