Baseball: Warriors Host Anchormen in First Little East Home Doubleheader of Year

Series History:Ā 
  • 131st and 132ndĀ meeting all time. Eastern owns the series lead 99-31, seeking its 100thĀ win against the Anchormen this weekend
  • Last year, the teams met four times and Eastern won three of those games. In the regular season, the games were hosted by Rhode Island College at Pontarelli Field in Providence, RI. The first game of the doubleheader was a dominant 17-1 win by the Warriors, who scored all 17 runs in the final three innings after trailing 1-0 heading into the seventh
  • The second game was a 3-1 win for the Warriors, who scored two runs in the top of the seventh on the only error of the game
  • The third game took place during the Little East Conference tournament and the Anchormen won 12-2. All runs were scored in the first three innings of the game stopped after seven innings due to the '10-run' rule.
  • The fourth and final game of the 2025 season between Eastern and RIC was a 13-3 eight-inning victory for the Warriors at Pappas Field in Rindge, NH. Eastern led the game throughout and moved onto the championship round against Keene State

  • The Warriors have won one of their last five games, defeating Trinity College 7-4 at home on Tuesday. Joseph Barlovic pitched 6.0 innings and allowed two runs, five hits, and struck out six batters in his first career win. On Wednesday, Stevens defeated the Warriors at Holowaty Family Field 12-5 in a game with a combined 25 hits
  • After losing nine in a row, the Anchormen have won their last three games, winning back-to-back games for the first time this season against Western Connecticut State University and Wentworth Institute of Technology. Four runs in the top of the ninth against Western Connecticut were enough to give the Anchormen their first conference win in 2026. RIC is coming off Thursday's 10-7 non-conference win at Babson College

  • RIC is 3-12 away from home, Eastern 2-2 at Holowaty Family Field
  • The Anchormen have the highest combined ERA in the Little East Conference at 9.75, the Warriors have the second lowest at 5.33
  • Eastern is tied for first in the LEC in saves (5) with UMass Dartmouth. Noah Fitzgerald and Nicholas Furino have two, and Rob Moynihan has one
  • Four different pitchers have one win each for RIC, while nine different Eastern pitches have figured in the Warriors' 15 victories. Stephen Rickert of Eastern is 4-1 with a 1.95 ERA (top among starters) while Fitzgerald has a staff-best 0.79 ERA in 11 1/3 innings. Ā Rickert, Fitzgerald, Moynihan and Jake Shaughnessy have combined for 92 strikeouts and only 21 walks, with Fitzgerald totalling 14 strikeouts and only one walk. As a staff, Eastern has a 2.2-to-1 strikeout-to-walk ratio. Alexander IannuccilliĀ  has fanned ten and walked only two in 7.0 IP for RIC
  • The Anchormen and Warriors are the bottom two teams in the conference in terms of fielding percentage. Rhode Island College has a .946 fielding percentage and Eastern has a .943 percentage
  • Eastern's Teige Kimbler ranks second in the conference in on-base percentage with .556 this season
  • Rickert is tied for second in wins in the LEC and is fourth in ERA
