MANCHESTER, Conn. -- With a flurry of season personal bests set on Saturday morning at the George Suitor Invitational, Eastern Connecticut State University Men's and Women's Cross Country finished fourth and tenth, respectively, in the 5K event held at Wickham Park, led by junior Noah Hauswirth on the men's side and junior Keira Warner for the women.

In the men's race, Hauswirth raced for the first time this year, finishing in 15:58.9 in 18th overall, while being just 25 seconds off the leader, Evan Lacey from RPI, who closed in a time of 15:33.9 in the event. Right behind Hauswirth was first-year Brayden Dunn with a best of his own, finishing in 16:00.1 in 19th place, while senior Zach D'Andrea was in 25th-place for the Warriors, only four seconds back of Dunn in 16:04.7, and first-year Luke Dalton ran a 16:13.2, finishing 33rd overall.

Two more Eastern runners finished in under 17 minutes as sophomore Kyle Kornacki was just behind Dalton too in 39th place at 16:18.1 and junior Joey Caruk was a 16:58.1 finisher in 73rd overall. Setting another personal best was sophomore Hayden Baber, as he was 84th in the race with a 17:03.6, followed by a pair of first-year runners in Owen Cipriano and Gerry Hall in 95th (17:15.2) and 98th (18:18.5).

A trio of first-year runners closed out the Eastern field in Andrew Butryman (111th) in 17:56.8, George Bourassa (124th) in 18:41.0, and Noah Chaloult (128th) in 19:23.2. 

For the women, their 10th-place team finish came with junior Keira Warner leading the way in 50th place with a season-best 20:27.0, followed by first-year runner Noelia Diaz also setting a personal best in 20:30.1, giving her 54th overall. First-year runner Saide Iselin was just behind that duo in 60th place with a 20:41.8 finish, while senior Isabel Cintron placed 87th in 21:38.2 in the 5K that saw Connecticut College take the team crown over RPI. 

First-year runner Kyllie Burchall also turned in a strong effort for the young Warriors in a time of 21:55.6 to give her 96th place, while fellow first-years Hailey Yahara and Ava Sullivan finished two spots apart in 119th and 121st, running times of 23:01.7 and 23:08.7 respectively, as first-year Natalie Leppert closed out the pack in 128th at 23:53.0

Cross Country will prepare for next weekend when they head to the Wesleyan Invitational in Middletown, Connecticut.
