MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – Junior
Noah Hauswirth finished 43rd for Eastern Connecticut State University Men's Cross Country with a 26:14.7 at the Cardinal Invitational in Middletown, Connecticut, while junior
Keira Warner paced the women in 44th place with a time of 23:48.3, as both programs placed seventh as a team.
For the third consecutive week, Warner led the way for the women, in 44th overall in a time of 23:48.3, closely followed by first-year
Sadie Iselin, competing in the first 6,000-meter race of her collegiate career in 54th at 24:12.2. Senior
Isabel Cintron was the final upperclassman runner to come across the line for Eastern in 67th-place, closing out her performance in 24:42.1.
The final four finishers for the Warriors were all first-year runners, with
Noelia Diaz leading that pack of four in 77th-place with a time of 25:29.9, before
Kylie Burchell came in 83rd-place in 26:07.8 for the event.
Hailey Yahara and
Natalie Leppert finished about 1:04 apart from each other, as Yahara was 92nd at 27:15.2, while Leppert was 95th at 28:19.0 to close out the seventh-place finish for the women's team.
In the men's race, Hauswirth led the Warriors with his 43rd-place finish, but three seconds behind him was first-year
Brayden Dunn in a time of 26:17.8 in 48th place, while senior Zach D'Andrea was in 50th place with a 26:21.8. Two more runners would come in under 27 minutes, as sophomores
Luke Dalton and
Kyle Kornacki finishing 59th and 65th overall in times of 26:30.6 and 26:44.6, respectively.
Among finishers in the 27-minute threshold were sophomore
Hayden Baber in 84th place at 27:26.5 and junior
Joey Caruk in 97th at 27:56.3. Among the remaining first-year runners were
Gerry Hall (104th),
Owen Cipriano (106th),
Andrew Butryman (120th), and
George Bourassa (121st) with times of 28:31.6, 28:33.5, 30:18.8, and 30:19.7, in their finishing order.
Sophomore
Khentrell Graham was 113th for the Warriors in 29:15.8, while senior
Ian Vasquez rounded out their pack in 129th with a 33:16.0 finish.
After a week off, Eastern will head to the Keene State Invitational on October 3rd at 10:00 AM.
