Nik Lassonde ’25 returns to the staff of head coach Mike Odenwaelder and will serve as the sub-varsity student-assistant coach.  Lassonde spent the 2024 season as the team’s assistant JV coach. In 2023, he was the team’s manager as well as a volunteer sub-varsity coach and was a member of the support staff for the 2022 national championship team.  
 
Lassonde is a native of New Fairfield and was a three-year player in both baseball and football at New Fairfield High School, where he started for two years in each sport and qualified for the Southwest Conference All-Academic Team every year.
 
Before transferring to Eastern, Lassonde was a member of the baseball and football teams at Division III Dean College for one year. At Dean, he made the Eastern Collegiate Football Conference (ECFC) and Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) All- Academic teams and was a member of the Dean’s List.  Lassonde is also an avid wiffleball player and plays competitively at Eastern.   
 
Since 2018, Lassonde has been the associate head coach of the “Sandlot Sunday” youth baseball team in New Fairfield.  He has guided the team to a 76-28 record over six seasons.  
 
A field goal kicker and punter, Lassonde is also the captain and president of Eastern’s club football team. He was 19 for 23 on field goals, 28 for 31 on extra points and 7-for-8 from 45+ yards out, including a 41-yard game-winner at the University of Vermont and a 23-yard game-winner vs Clarkson University. Lassonde also averaged 49 yards on 61 punts.  
 
Lassonde also earned the nickname of Nikky Long Range for his involvement with the Eastern athletics department. As a sports information student-assistant, Lassonde’s primary responsibilities include public address announcing and statistics at home events, and photography at various away games. He is also a member of the support staff for field hockey, softball, men’s and women’s basketball, lacrosse, soccer, swimming as well as track & field. Lassonde’s goal is to collect memorabilia from each school in the conference to which he visits.
 
Lassonde is working toward a degree in communication and is preparing for a long-time career in sports information.
