
A member of two Little East Conference tournament title teams and a sophomore all-conference pitcher,
Patrick O’Neill returns to his alma mater as recruiting coordinator under head coach Mike Odenwaelder.
A Thomaston native, O’Neill has spent the last four seasons as a collegiate assistant coach, the last three seasons under John Delaney at Division I Quinnipiac University and the 2019 season at Wesleyan University. At Quinnipiac, he served a variety of roles in scouting and with team travel, and as an outfield, first base and bullpen coach. At Wesleyan under veteran head coach Mark Woodworth, he served as pitching coach and recruiting coordinator.
Soon after graduating from Eastern, O’Neill spent two summers as pitching coach for the Danbury Westerners of the New England Collegiate Baseball League.
O’Neill was a four-year member of the program at Eastern, playing his first season under Hall of Fame coach Bill Holowaty in 2013. In three varsity seasons between 2014 and 2016, O’Neill was 9-9 with a save and 4.19 ERA in 150 innings over 40 appearances as a spot starter.
In his first varsity season in 2014, O’Neill was 5-1 with a 2.77 in 61 2/3 innings and helped the staff lead the LEC with a 2.79 ERA. That season, he pitched the first six innings and was credited with the win in the team’s Little East Conference tournament opener. He was named first-team All-LEC pitcher that year when Eastern won the LEC regular-season and tournament championships. In 2015, he led all LEC pitchers with ten starts.
O’Neill graduated from Eastern with a B.S. Degree in Physical Education with a concentration in Kinesiology and is pursuing his graduate degree in Sport Administration and Education Leadership.
