Scott Kossbiel joins the staff of head coach Craig Gibson and will serve as the program’s defensive coordinator.
 
A native of Avon, Kossbiel brings 20 years of high school coaching to the program, 15 as a boys’ head lacrosse coach after serving five seasons as an assistant coach. Kossbiel has spent the last five years through 2024 as head coach at Northwest Catholic High School after serving 10 seasons as head coach and five as assistant coach at Avon High School.
 
As a high school head coach, the three-time state Coach-of-the-Year nominee  has accumulated over 150 wins. He led both Avon and Northwest Catholic into the Class “M” and Class “S” state semifinals, respectively, with his 2022 Northwest Catholic squad reaching the state title game as the tournament’s No. 7 seed with wins over Foran, No. 2 Ellington and No. 3 Canton.
 
In 2012, Kossbiel led Avon to a 17-3 record and followed that up with an 18-1 mark the following season.
 
Kossbiel has recorded seven conference titles, four at Avon and three at Northwest.
 
In addition to high school coaching, Kossbiel has been involved with Connecticut Valley Lacrosse since 2020 under program founder and Eastern lacrosse alumnus Matthew Ramsay and currently serves as special programs director.
 
Kossbiel graduated cum laude in 2003 with a B.S. Degree in Education from the University of Scranton, where he played two seasons as a long stick midfielder. He holds a CPMR Professional Business Certification from The University of Texas at Austin.  Kossbiel resides in his hometown with his wife, Jill, and three children, Henry, Adam, and Charli.
