Kevin Bacher returns to the staff of head coach Greg DeVito as a volunteer assistant coach.
A resident of Coventry, Bacher brings nearly 20 years of men’s and women’s coaching experience with elite athletes to the program at the youth and collegiate levels, as well as extensive playing experience at the collegiate and professional levels.
Bacher currently serves as head coach with the U18-19 US boys’ and U16-17 boys’ Soccer Development Academy teams after serving as an assistant coach with the U18 Soccer Development Academy team for three years. His head coaching record at the academy is 105-67-56.
A goalkeeper, Bacher played two seasons in the USL’s Professional Development League with the New Jersey Imperials and Grand Rapids Explosion and four seasons at Syracuse University – where he was voted first-team NSCAA All-Northeast Region goalkeeper, All-Big East and team MVP as a senior captain.
A Long Island native, Bacher possesses 13 years of assistant coaching experience at the Division I level with the University of Connecticut, University of Hartford men’s and women’s teams, and Cornell University. At Hartford, he coached the women’s team under former Eastern men’s soccer standout John Natale ’97.
As an assistant soccer coach under Ray Reid at Connecticut, Bacher coached and/or recruited 24 players who went on to compete in Major League Soccer, including former MLS Rookie-of-the-Year Damani Ralph.
For six years, Bacher served as director of coaching for the Northeast United premier soccer club in Connecticut and assistant director of the Ray Reid Soccer School.
Bacher was awarded a USSF National B License in July of 2019. He earned his B.A. in Geography from Syracuse in 2003.
