Aaron Smiles, one of the top defensive players in program history, joins the staff of 15th-year head coach Greg DeVito.
A Bedford, MA native, Smiles was part of DeVito’s second recruiting class in 2008 and was a major contributor to teams which won two Little East Conference regular-season and two playoff championships, were ranked in 38 of a possible 40 USC New England polls and were ranked seven times in the USC Top 25, including a high of 12th.
With Smiles between 2008 and 2011, the Warriors posted an overall record of 60-19-8, 21-4-3 in the Little East. The team lost exactly one LEC regular-season game each season.
Smiles was a three-time USC All-New England pick and four-time All-LEC selection on defense, earning first-team honors twice in the former category and three times in the latter. As a senior, he was named LEC Defensive Player-of-the-Year when the team won outright the LEC regular-season title and its third LEC playoff crown in DeVito’s first five seasons.
Smiles holds a USC E License and four additional USC Advanced Coaching Diplomas and has served as a Massachusetts ODP evaluator for many years. He earned his BGS in Communication and Sport and Leisure Management from Eastern in 2012.
