Upwards of 20 alumni returned to Thomas Nevers Field October 13 as the men's soccer program recognized the 50th Anniversary of the 1968 team which went undefeated in the regular season and through the regional tournament and became the first athletic program at Eastern to reach a national tournament. The seniors on that team led the program to its first winning season during their freshman seasons in 1965. In 1966 and 1967, the Warriors combined on a 17-4-1 record and qualified for their first two NAIA tournaments. The 1968 team won its first 11 matches and capped an unbeaten regular season with a hard-fought 1-1 overtime tie at Southern Connecticut State University. The Warriors went on to defeat Castleton and UMass Dartmouth by a combined score of 7-0 in the NAIA Area 8 tournament to become the first program at Eastern to reach a national tournament., where they won two games at Quincy, Illinois.
