Paul Raccio

Paul Raccio joins the staff of head softball coach Diana Pepin, bringing over 20 years of coaching experience in three different sports to the program.

Raccio, a resident of Hamden, has been involved in coaching since 2000, where he has coached softball and baseball for five different programs.

Most recently, Raccio served as an assistant softball coach at Division II Post University during the 2014 and 2015 spring seasons after guiding the softball program at Division II Young Harris College for one season. At Young Harris, Raccio led the Mountain Lions to an overall 27-27 record which included 16 straight wins in their first full season in the Peach Belt Conference.

Before landing his first college head coaching job at Young Harris, Raccio served as an assistant softball coach at Division II Southern Connecticut State University for eight years through 2012, serving as assistant head coach when the Owls qualified for five NCAA tournaments, reaching their first national tournament in 2012. That year, Southern was ranked first in the East Region and sixth nationally. Southern won back-to-back Northeast-10 Conference tournament titles in 2010 and ’11 and set program season records for wins for four straight years.

At Post, Raccio helped the Eagles to a two-year record of 48-41, 35-17 in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference.

For 12 years through 2012, Raccio served as head coach for the Hamden-based Connecticut Bombers AAU baseball team.

Raccio, who holds an NFCA Master Coaching Certification, graduated from the University of Connecticut in 1996 with a B.A. Degree in History.
