In 2018, Tom Madera was presented with the

Tom Madera returns to the staff of head coach Diana Pepin in a volunteer capacity.

In 2018, Madera became the first assistant coach in 13 years to be presented with the Jeffrey W. Anderson Memorial Award for devotion to and support of the program.

A former member of the Eastern police department now employed on the police force at Yale University, Madera is active in numerous community service projects. In 2008, he received the Connecticut Special Olympics Unsung Hero Award and has been a Special Olympics volunteer and unified partner since 1995.

Madera, who works with the infielders, is a 25-year veteran of law enforcement, formerly serving as a police lieutenant with the Eastern Police Department, where he had been employed from 2010 to 2018.
