A native of London, England, Morphitis has been associated with the college game for the last 15 years – the last 11 as a coach after playing four seasons as a goalkeeper at Division I Hofstra University. Prior to her appointment at CMSV, Morphitis compiled a four-year record of 24-21-5 as head women’s soccer coach at St. Joseph’s University (L.I.) a Division III Skyline Conference institution located in Patchogue, NY.

“I am ecstatic to have Emily join the Eastern family,” said Tompkins following Morphitis' appointment.. “She brings a wealth of knowledge along with a very successful coaching and playing career. Emily will play a big role in our recruiting and on-field coaching.”

Following a four-year playing career at Hofstra, served as a graduate assistant coach at Division I Northwestern State University of Louisiana for two years (2014-15) before returning to her alma mater as an assistant for three seasons (2016-18) under head coach Simon Riddiough, under whom she played as a collegian.

As the associate head coach under Stuart Dick at CMSV in 2023, Morphitis helped the Dolphins to a 13-6-3 overall record (7-1-3 Skyline Conference) and their first Skyline  tournament championship and NCAA tournament berth. As the No. 3 tournament seed, CMSV posted three straight shutouts to claim the title and qualify for the NCAA tournament.

In her playing career at Hofstra, Morphitis helped the Pride to a four-year record of 50-26-5 (26-11-3 Coastal Athletic Association) between 2010 and 2013, one CAA tournament title ( 2012) and two berths (2010, 2012) in NCAA tournaments. In her career, she appeared in 70 matches in goal, starting 54 and posting a record of 33-20-3 with ten shutouts, a 1.23 goals-against average and .705 save percentage.

As a junior in 2012, Morphitis started all 22 matches with five shutouts and was named CAA tournament Most Outstanding Player when her fifth-seeded  team won three matches. In penalty-kick wins over Northeastern University in the first round and top seed William & Mary College in the semifinals, Morphitis made two saves in the penalty round of each, and stopped five shots in the 2-1 title game win over UNC-Wilmington.

In her freshman year in 2010, Morphitis appeared in 19 matches with three starts for the Pride, who finished 19-3-0 (11-0-0 CAA), won 18 straight games en route to a No. 23 national ranking, and defeated the University of Connecticut in the opening round of the NCAA tournament.

Morphitis holds a B.S. Degree in Criminology from Hofstra and a M.S. Degree in Sports Administration from Northwestern.
