The only coach in program history, Maureen Fahey enters her 23rd season in her current position, having been named to her  present position in the program’s initial season in 1996. Among current Eastern head coaches, Fahey ranks second in terms of continuous service to the University.

In her tenure, Fahey has produced 60 Eastern/E-Club Scholar-Athlete Award recipients, and 34 four-year letterwinners, as well as 14 New England champions and 267 All-New England and 188 All-Little East Conference selections. Twelve years ago, the LEC Academic Honor Roll was instituted, and 54 Eastern swimmers have earned spots on those teams.

In the last 11 seasons, Eastern is 85-21 in dual meet competition for a winning percentage of .802, putting together four one-loss seasons in the last seven years.

In 2017/18, the Warriors won eight of nine dual meets and placed fifth -- their 11 straight Top 10 finish --  at the NEISDA Championships. In the LEC Championships, Mollee Lasto won the 100 backstroke and Megan Lasto  captured the 200 IM, the latter swimmer going on to gain LEC Rookie-of-the-Year honors as the first Eastern swimmer to earn a major LEC award. Less than two weeks later at the NEISDA Championships, Megan Lasto became the program's 15 individual champion (400 IM) , with Maggie Lasto right behind her in a second-place finish.

Fahey earned Coach-of-the-Year honors in 2012/13 from both NEISDA (for the third time) and the Little East (for the second time).

Fahey chalked up her 100th dual meet victory seven years ago with a 107-90 victory over UMass Dartmouth at the Sports Center pool. Under Fahey, Eastern has not had a losing record since her second season, finishing above .500 in all but one of those seasons.  

Fahey was an accomplished intercollegiate swimmer at Division II national powerhouse University of Tampa, Prior to her appointment at Eastern, the Ledyard, Conn. native spent four years on the intercollegiate swimming staff at Connecticut College after two years at Robinson High School (Tampa, FL).

As an intercollegiate athlete, Fahey was a 14-time NCAA Division II All-America in the freestyle and relay events under Ed Brennan at Tampa between 1985 and 1989, swam the third leg of consecutive 400 yard freestyle national champion relay teams in 1987 and ’88 and was an integral member of teams which placed second (twice), third, and ninth in national competition.
