Taylor Alward was named Associate Director of Athletics for Sports Communications in June of 2026.
Alward joins Eastern with over a decade of experience in college athletics, most recently at Brown University. At Eastern, Alward will oversee the communications efforts of all 19 varsity programs.
Alward spent the last five years as an Assistant Director of Athletic Communications at Brown, serving as the primary contact for volleyball, women’s hockey, softball, men’s and women’s water polo and men’s and women’s swimming and diving. While at Brown, Alward spearheaded the publicity for two Ivy League Champions, the 2022 Ivy League Volleyball Championship team and the 2025 Ivy League Softball Tournament Championship team. He also led the communications efforts for the softball team’s appearance in the NCAA Softball Lubbock Regional.
Alward has also led the publicity efforts for four Ivy League Players of the Year as well as multiple All-Ivy honorees.
Prior to Brown, Alward spent five seasons at IUPUI, now IU Indy, as the Sports Information Director. At IUPUI, Alward was the primary contact for volleyball, women’s basketball, softball, men’s and women’s tennis and men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams. Alward helped publicize four-time Horizon League Women’s Basketball Player of the Year Maicee Williams, as well as the 2020 Horizon League Women’s Basketball Tournament Championship team.
Alward has a bachelor’s degree in communications and journalism from Carroll University in Waukesha, Wis., and a master’s degree in sport administration from Ball State University in Muncie, Ind.
Alward and his wife Carrie and son Will live in North Kingstown, R.I.
