Box Score NEW LONDON, Conn.--Morgan Cowie-Haskell buried a header in the 36th minute of action to lead the Connecticut College women's soccer team to a 1-0 blanking of Eastern Connecticut State University in the first home event played under the lights at the Artificial Turf at Silfen Field Tuesday.
Sophomore Rebecca Parente assisted on the eventual game-winner with a nifty looking corner kick that sailed all the way through the box near the far post where Cowie-Haskell stuck the header to provide Conn (2-5-1) with only its second win of the year.
Eastern (5-4-1) was attempting to win as many as two matches in a row for the first time this year. The Warriors, who have been shut out by Conn in three of the last four years, were coming off Saturday's 1-0 Little East Conference overtime win over Western Connecticut.
All four of the Camel goaltenders contributed to the shutout and every active player on the roster participated in the win. Amy Lowitt made one save in the first half. Blythe Gross-Hutton stopped four shots in second half action. Kirsten Manville logged 16:20 of action before Natalie Signor closed out the win, logging 5:40 of action.
First-year sophomore Rachel Skelton (East Lyme) made one save in the opening half in her third career start before departing on the short end of a 1-0 Conn lead, eventually losing for the third time in as many decisions. Senior Mackenzie MacLeod (Northfield) stopped two Camels shots in the second stanza.
The Camels held an 11-to-6 edge in shots and a 3-to-2 advantage in corner kicks in a match played in heavy rain.
Eastern returns home to host Keene State College Saturday at 1 p.m. in a re-matchof last year's LEC playoff championship game, won on penalty kicks by the Warriors.
