Box Score WINTER HAVEN – Sophomore D.J. Scavone (Auburn, MA) blasted a bases-clearing double to highlight a six-run seventh inning as the Eastern Connecticut State University baseball team posted a 12-10, come-from-behind win over Framingham State University Saturday morning at Chain O' Lakes Park.
Trailing 10-6, Eastern (5-1) scored six times in the bottom of the seventh on five hits (three of them doubles), two walks and a hit batter to remain undefeated (14-0) all-time against Framingham (2-3). The Rams have lost three straight after coming off consecutive losses to Top 25 teams.
Scavone, freshman Alex Parkos (Meriden) and senior captain Tim Budd (Cheshire) all drove in runs with doubles in the sixth, when the first four batters reached safely.. Scavone, batting .095 prior to the game, doubled in three runs, with Parkos two and Budd one.
In his second career appearance, freshman righty Jordan Muchin (West Hartford) earned his first win as the second of four Eastern pitchers. He pitched 3 1/3 innings, giving up one run on three hits with four strikeouts and one walk. Freshman lefty Noah Gulino (Farmington) and junior righty Sam Kosterich (Stamford) each pitched a 1-2-3 inning to close out the win. Kosterich earned his third save in four appearances.
Junior Pat Sirois (Cromwell) led Eastern's 15-hit attack with three hits, with Budd, Scavone, Parkos and freshman Alexander White (West Hartford) all contributing two. Budd and Scavone each plated three runs and Parkos two. Scavone and White each scored twice.
Eastern faces UW-Oshkosh Sunday at 9:45 a.m. at Lake Myrtle Park in Auburndale.
