Box Score CLERMONT, Fla. –Junior lefty Summer Cipriani (North Stonington) tossed a complete-game five-hitter for her first career shutout and drove in a run in a three-run first inning as the Eastern Connecticut State University softball team downed Millikin University, 5-0, Friday afternoon at the National Training Center.
Eastern's (3-9) scheduled 3 p.m. game against Colby College (3-4) was delayed by rain.

Senior third baseman Samantha Rentz (Griswold) drove in the first run in the three-run first with a single which plated junior righfielder Danielle Robillard (Swansea, MA), who had reached on a one-out bunt single, and Cipriani sent home junior centerfielder Samantha Bardos (Norwalk) with a double through the right-center field gap. Rentz scored the third run on junior second baseman Gina Georgetti's (Milford) infield ground ball.
Eastern made it 4-0 in the fourth on junior DP Kristyn Ryan's (Barkhamsted) leadoff double and Robillard's single past third base and added a final run in the seventh on a leadoff double by Bardos and a throwing error by catcher Alyssa Voegele attempting to pick her off third.
