MEDFORD, Mass. -- Eastern Connecticut State University broke the program record in the 4x800 meter relay at the New England Division III Men's Indoor Track & Field Championships Saturday at the Gantcher Center on the campus of Tufts University.
Senior Lawrence McGill (New Haven), junior Cooper Goslin (South Windsor) and senior Mike Underwood (Farmington) – who helped establish the record of 8:15.88 two years ago at the New England meet – were joined this year by anchor Zach Parisella (Hamden) in setting a new record of 8:08.38. The relay finished tenth, just two spots shy of All-New England status.
Sophomore Chidebe Ndibe (West Hartford) missed by one spot of attaining All-New England status witih a ninth-place finish of 41-9 ¾ in the triple jump. Eighth a year ago in the long jump, Ndibe took 12th this year with a mark of 20-4 ¼.
Also competing was sophomore Matt Pinney (Mansfield), who threw the shot 40-4 ¼ -- good for 22nd place.
